An online transformation on the HKIA website to ensure Hong Kong’s 73 million annual travelers make the most of their airport experience and enjoy a hassle-free journey with a dynamic source of information and services.

Challenge

In December 2016, we were once again awarded to revamp the HKIA website to adapt to the rapid development of digital technology, change of user behavior and the growing prevalence of mobile devices in recent years. In this new project, through the website representing Hong Kong, we are determined to bring the best personalized experience to different types of audiences.

We were tasked for an online transformation on the HKIA website to ensure visitors make the most of their airport experience and enjoy a hassle-free journey. In March 2018, the website was successfully launched to celebrate HKIA’s 20th anniversary, providing Hong Kong’s 73 million annual travellers with a dynamic source of information and services.

Solution

The future-ready website has been built to serve the modern traveller whilst providing HKIA with a sustainable digital platform solution that will empower them as they work towards creating an airport city. A complete UX overhaul was conducted to ensure the website meets the needs of both travel related users and business users, allowing HKIA to offer a more dynamic service offering and agile web presence.

Given the sheer scale of the project with features content from multiple business units, human-centric usability and an intuitive design spearhead the website’s focus. Enterprise standards have also been met to ensure the delivery of a truly world class airport website. Travellers will benefit from the array of useful features such as real time alerts, live parking and flight updates as well as a friendlier browsing experience across all touchpoints.

Results

Different business units were able to access their corresponding section and content and manage their assets easily. The standards and objective on security, accessibility and efficiency were met. This enables HKIA to reflect the latest digital initiatives to our international travelers and at the same time, for the Authority to represent a professional image to overseas companies.
