Multiple people can be connected to the experience at the same time, allowing for collaboration and fun interaction on promotional content designed for big screen signage

Connected and interactive experiences have always been at the forefront of Mirum’s innovation, we bring stunning interactive visual displays to life to create connected touchpoints for solution driven technology and business promotion.

We wanted to look at how we could improve big digital signage through digital interaction and enhance the story telling experience. The concept we came up with was an interactive campaign controlled through devices that could support movement and orientation detection. The two devices we explored were peoples own mobile phones as this provided a low barrier to entry for the interaction experience and more people could be involved. And the second one was a sensor capable of 9DOF (degrees of freedom) that could be attached to a retail item.

Both hardware entry points could achieve the same goal as both have an accelerometer that allows for rotation and directional detection. This allows a product that is displayed on screen to active and have additional interactions when it detects movement from either the sensor or a connected mobile device.

The idea behind the sensor activation is that, it is small enough to be installed on or inside a piece of apparel, such as a shoe. When a user picks up the shoe, the sensor sends an alert to the big screen to provide additional information about the shoe. This is where the story telling experience comes to life, providing additional context and layers to a user’s experience as they explore that piece of apparel.

The idea behind the mobile activation is that the interaction can be a connected one. Multiple people can be connected to the experience at the same time, allowing for collaboration and fun interaction on promotional content designed for big screen signage. The hope was to increase user interaction with promotional campaigns and provide additional promotional material through the interaction.

Both interactions can be experienced through our IoT visualizer concept that brings both interaction to life.
