Whilst it cannot replace everything, using it in combination with other traditional input methods provides an outstanding experience with real value

At our innovation centre in Hong Kong we have an interactive touch and display wall to give presentations about the work we do as well as be part a concept for smart office solutions of the future. It is a combination of display and touch, with 4 screens for viewing and one for interaction. This allows a presenter to stand to one side, interact with the touch screen and display the core content on the other 4 display screens.

As our content grew for our presentation we found that it became difficult to filter and quickly find the content we wanted to show during a presentation, this was key for us as giving seamless presentations is what we always aim for, and are also the presentations that people remember the most .We decided to use the voice capability Amazon Alex’s home device as an interactive touchpoint to help add contextual searching for our presentation wall.

Being able to remotely give commands using your voice instead of having to type or interact with a search program by clicking greatly increases speed, efficiency and the overall experience of any application. Whilst it cannot replace everything, using it in combination with other traditional input methods provides an outstanding experience with real value. Our voice-controlled video wall is an example of the next generation of smart office solutions that allows users to combine inputs to give seamless presentations.

We custom built our interactions through Amazon Web Services Lambda function to create our own triggers and commands through Alexa voice capability. This combined with our regular touch interactive capability greatly improved the value and execution to our presentations.
